Before Prep
- Shower, and shave prior to appointment, fresh skin is the best skin. Shave at least 6 hours before your appointment not right before. During your shower exfoliate everywhere, especially dry skin areas like elbows, knees, feet and hands. Avoid using bar soap or oily soap, as it tends to leave a residue on your body impairing the spray tan. (ex: Dove Soap)
- PLEASE be sure to have scrubbed off any remnants of previous spray tan, tan extender lotion or dry skin from a sun burn! NOTE** WE WILL NOT SPRAY TAN YOU WITH A SUN BURN.
- BE READY with...
NO MAKE UP, NO DEODORANT, NO OILS, NO LOTION, NO PERFUME. - WHAT TO WEAR during and after your SPRAY. We want you to feel the most comfortable during this 20 minute experience. Everybody's comfort level is different and we understand! Most commonly women go topless and use our provided disposable thongs. Whatever you choose to wear bathing suit, tank top, your own underwear, just remember nothing will be ruined or stained, it is all washable! Please have dark loose-fitted clothing for after the tan. No leggings! Skip the Bra!
SET TIME
- At SPRAY. we suggest for Regular Solution setting time to be no less then 8-10 hours, but we recommend 12-24 hours, and 1-4 hours for our special RAPID/SILK SPRAY. (Your shower time will be discussed at appointment) At that time you will be able to shower with a gentle rinse. No soap, No hair wash, No shaving...just a thorough rinse. Be sure to pat dry when getting out of the shower, then start your moisturizing routine. Depending on your solution type, moisturizer is used at different times, please ask for clarification.
- WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE MINDFUL DURING SETTING HOURS?? ALSO ASK ABOUT OUR FINISHING SETTING POWDER
- When you are done with your appointment you will be tan, but the top layer of your skin (the bronzer) is going to continue to develop and will look darker as the day progresses. Your fresh layer of spray tan has a bronzer in it with DHA (what gives you the color that lasts) You do not want to interrupt the setting process because it could lead to streaking or blotchy spots. **Hence the pictures of crying tear streams down girls faces, that's because they cried during setting hours**
- AVOID water, dishes, crying, wet dog noses, drinking and spilling, drooling kids, wet laundry, tight clothing, sweating, and definitely no exercise! Wait till after your first shower to do any sweaty activities.
NOTE: The longer you set the tan the darker it may appear, DO NOT judge tan by this color. That is the bronzer setting into your skin creating a longer lasting tan. Once you shower the bronzer off, it will reveal the natural, even, glowing tan! The SPRAY. will ONLY be as dark as the Aviva color percentage we put on you!
After Care
- After your first shower we suggest moisturizing daily, keep that skin from getting dry and shedding. This will help the longevity of your tan and also help it fade evenly. AVOID lotions with alcohol, mineral oil, baby oil, and any fragrance scented lotion. Hempz is our favorite! ASK ABOUT OUR TAN EXTENDER LOTION!!
- After your first shower for RAPID/SILK SPRAY. tanners DO NOT use lotion till tan is fully developed (Approx 12 hours later). You will notice your bronzer wash down the drain, and it will look like your SPRAY. is almost completely gone when stepping out of the shower. DO NOT PANIC. The magic happens during the next 12-18 developing hours. TRUST THE PROCESS.
- Spraying perfume on your skin. Spray your clothes.
- Hot Tubs, Chlorine & Salt Water. It wont strip the spray tan completely but it will shorten the life.
- Aerosol Sun Screen. Stick to cream base. Our favorite is Beauty Counter, Coppertone, Sun Bum, or Skin Image.
NOTE** Aviva solution does not protect your skin from UVA rays. You will still get burnt, even though your a glowing goddess. - Massages. Mani/Pedi's. Hot Yoga, Extreme Sweating, Long Showers. Exfoliate minimally.
